Sylvia Bowman

Sylvia Bowman, CDT

Principal, CertiFloor

With 35+ years of chemical engineering expertise and 25+ years of commercial flooring project management experience, Sylvia Bowman witnessed many preventable flooring failures caused by contractors not following specifications, with no independent firm to catch these deviations. This resulted in invalid warranties and finger-pointing between owners, design teams, contractors, and manufacturers.

She champions the need for owner-retained flooring quality assurance—a non-proprietary approach requiring independent verification during installation to ensure specification compliance and warranty validity. CertiFloor is among the firms providing independent flooring system verification, using proactive protocols that prevent problems before they occur while protecting owner investments with comprehensive compliance documentation.
